Course Overview

SCDPM 2012 training is designed to teach IT professionals how to implement and manage Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (SCDPM) 2012. The training covers topics such as installation, configuration, backup and recovery, protection of virtual machines, and monitoring of SCDPM 2012. The goal of the training is to enable IT professionals to provide data protection for their organization using SCDPM 2012.

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Plan a DPM deployment.
  2. Install and configure DPM and the protection agent.
  3. Protect basic workloads with DPM
  4. Protect client workstations with DPM
  5. Protect enterprise applications Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint Services and virtual machines using DPM.
  6. Backup and recovery of data with DPM servers.
  7. Backup and restore system state and bare metal recovery with DPM servers.
  8. Backup and restore Hyper-V virtual machines
  9. Using generic VSS provider backup and restore
  10. Enable end user recovery tools for the file system and SQL databases
  11. Protect and Recovery DPM Servers
  12. Identify and resolve problems with DPM servers, protection agents, and protected data.

Pre-requisite

  1. Technical knowledge of operating systems and backup devices.
  2. Basic understanding of Microsoft Workloads.
  3. Ideally some data protection experience in one or more of the following areas: File Servers, Exchange, SQL Server, Virtual Machines
